Sir Alister Clavering Hardy, FRS was an English marine biologist, professor at the University of Oxford and Fellow of the Royal Society, and founder the Religious Experience Research Centre. He served as the official zoologist on the RRS Discovery voyage to explore the Antarctic between 1925 and 1927. Hardy was also an accomplished artist, and the book includes Hardy's writing and illustrations.
