The art especially is pretty avant-garde (is that the right word for it?), and the rhyming is really nice! It's a pretty cute story, and is definitely something to read when you have an art block!
Madeline is a 1939 book written and illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans, the first in the book series of eleven books, …
From the windows of their office in the northeast wing they could see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the colonnade-topped arcade that joined the two wings. Taking a break from mathematical formulas and ciphers, they could look down from their third-floor perch at foreign delegations laying beribboned wreaths. They derived a peculiar, perhaps slightly perverse, satisfaction from watching the dignitaries of the Third Reich. The awareness that they—anonymous workers in one of the Polish General Staff backroom units—could penetrate the German dignitaries’ most secret plans prejudicial to Poland’s defense and independent existence, gave them a sense of intellectual and moral superiority. The pompous Goering, aglitter with gilt medals and badges, the demonically grimacing Goebbels, and other emissaries from Germany who in the years 1934-38 were fairly frequent visitors to Warsaw, seemed like characters out of some wretched wandering theater. Could foreknowledge of the adversary's designs but have redressed the imbalance of forces!

This has literally become one of my graphic novels. It's a damn masterpiece! I really love the art style, the action scenes, and it especially 'flows smoothly'- the composition, the amount of dialogue/bubbles per page... Fantastic! But most importantly, the story, the themes, and the message. Spot-on. The background/extra content in the end of the book is also very epic and useful!

The articles are all interesting, and they're ordered well. I enjoyed reading them! Though it'd be cooler if they added more images, in the magazines there are actually a lot of images in the articles but so few of them made it to the book. I can understand why but it would still be cooler with more images. Whatever, great book, makes me want to pick math as my uni major more strongly!
