The Book Thief is a historical novel by the Australian author Markus Zusak, and is one of his most popular works. Published in 2005, The Book Thief became an international bestseller and was translated into 63 languages and sold 16 million copies. It was adapted into the 2013 feature film, The Book Thief. The novel is about the adventures of Liesel Meminger in Nazi Germany during the Second World War. By personifying "Death" as a tangible thing, the novel provides a fresh look into the world of the victims of the Holocaust.

Une oeuvre pleinde de poésie qui fait du bien en ce moment

Quand on commence ce livre, on se demande où on est tombé. Ça ne ressemble a rien de ce que j'ai déjà lu. Honnêtement, j'ai dû un peu m'accrocher au début, en me demandant où ça irait, et puis dépasse cette manière d'écrire particulière (mais pas dérangeante au final) et on se laisse embarquer par l'histoire de cette gamine en pleine Allemagne nazie, racontée par la mort.

Cette double approche permet de critiquer un système avec à la fois un certain cynisme et plein de poésie. C'est un belle oeuvre, destinée à la fois aux ados et adultes.
